According to CNBC, Wall Street donors are privately warning that they will sit out, or back Trump if you Elizabeth Warren becomes the democratic nominee. “You’re a Democrat and you’re thinking, ‘I want to help the party, but she’s going to hurt me, so I’m going to help Trump,” an executive said.
This reaction comes just a week after Elizabeth Warren became the frontrunner in a new Iowa poll edging out Biden by 2% and Bernie Sanders by double digits. Not to mention she unveiled a proposal that would deter influence from Wall Street that would forcibly make equity firms responsible to pay debts and pensions of companies they have bought.
Even with Nancy Pelosi formally beginning impeachment proceedings on president Trump his donors have not wavered raising an over $1 million for him after the announcement was made. Trump has outraised the DNC by millions raking in $53 million so far for his re-election campaign. The DNC, by the way, is over $7 million in debt.
Warren has said she will not take money from special interest groups and wall street donors. There’s no way Trump will lose and this is cementing it.
