Whatever tactics that are being psychologically committed by the President of the United States to the world just might be genius.
The Process
Trump’s international position according to Jeffrey Goldberg is under the umbrella of, “ We’re America Bitch.” His administration also depicts his doctrine from, “No Friends, No Enemies” to “ Permanent destabilization creates American advantage.”
As I write this article President Trump is meeting with Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un. It makes me scratch my head that the same people who praised President Obama’s sanctions on North Korea hate & scorn Trump for his efforts of meeting with Kim Jong-un today.
It’s quite a tragedy, hate has forced many of us blind and to go against our own interests. But those people forget the best diplomacy aren’t sanctions, its trade. The truth in this disruption of common sense now is that policy is and will always be the issue, not politics. People forget this.
This summit had little to do with trade though. It dealt with historic diplomacy. If we got anything specific, it’s perhaps a path towards dialogue and peace.
I think Kim is realizing that socialism and communism don’t work, perhaps its more economic based. If so, Kim deserves credit for that. There are no losers in this just winners. You must give credit to the four countries of North & South Korea, The United States & China.
Criticism
You have heard the critics of Trump rip him for not doing anything and lacking substance within the summit, however that is a complete lie. They say it’s not trustworthy, however, it’s a lie as well. If people didn’t trust Trump and his tactics the market would show it, it hasn’t, it’s sustained. The market automatically contradicts his critics.
This is not a concerted strategy to shake U.S. alliances & to realign America with corrupt autocratic regimes. Nor is it dependent on transactional relationships. Negotiations and dialogue are a good thing. The neocons hate it because of the effort made.
If we don’t stand by our Democratic principles & our allies that share them, every policy we care about will get screwed. It is counter-productive if the status quo continues, no process equals no progress.
Again, the media is more upset at Trump perhaps getting Kim Jong-un to commit to a full denuclearization deal than they are about Obama Administration trying to give Iran secret access to the financial system of the United States.
We must seek to broaden our coalition. We must work with those who we frequently disagree with. We must above all, hold an ironclad commitment to a free, open & democratic society where political dissent is welcomed home and abroad.
Trustworthy?
The question becomes out of all of this can Kim Jong-un be trusted?
To be fair we can’t forget North Korea previously pledged denuclearization in 1985, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016, while their leader has starved millions, runs concentration camps, killed political opponents, his brother, his uncle.
Can this change? Yes, I am optimistic. I have to be. President Trump gives me that cushion.
We Are Here
We went from rocket man to a meeting, well if this isn’t gameplay, I don’t know what is. But I do, It’s genius.
