Mark McCloskey, the St. Louis lawyer who made headlines for posting up outside his home with his wife Patricia carrying rifles while Black Lives Matter protesters protested the death of George Floyd, announced Tuesday night on Tucker Carlson that he was running for the Senate in Missouri.
My Take
Mark McCloskey has his hands full as the former disgraced governor of Missouri who resigned, Eric Greitens, is throwing his hat back in the race to lead Missouri, this time as the potential United States Senator of Missouri.
I don’t see any way possible of McCloskey surpassing Greitens going forward especially with the fact that even if McCloskey is a Trump supporter, Greitens has an already established a pro Trump platform, not to mention he has the ear of the Trump organizers and is heavily aligned with the likes of Steve Bannon and the girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Now that’s not to say that Greitens won’t have a hard time winning or that he’s got this race locked up considering the reasons he resigned as Missouri Governor in the first place.
Greitens had an affair with a hairdresser and then allegedly tried to blackmail her with nude photos, Greitens admitted to the affair but denied any blackmail attempt. At one point a few years ago Greitens was facing tremendous uphill battles including two criminal charges, an ethics probe, and a possible impeachment.
But again if Greitens has been a good boy ever since the scandal in 2018 he should be able to get enough national funding and support as he was once talked about as a potential presidential candidate.

I’ve always been a Republican, but I’ve never been a politician,” McCloskey told Carlson. “But, you know, God came knocking on my door last summer disguised as an angry mob, and it really did wake me up.”
McCloskey said he was inspired to run for office as he was rallying for former President Donald Trump.
“All we hear is talk, and nothing ever changes,” he said. “You have to send people to D.C. who are willing to tell the truth and fight for our values.”
“When the mob came to destroy my house and kill my family, I took a stand against them,” Mark McCloskey says in his campaign announcement video. “Now, I’m asking for the privilege to take that stand for all of us.”
“What I’ve learned is that people out there in this country are just sick and tired of cancel culture, and the poison of critical race theory and the big lie of systemic racism, all backed up by the threat of mob violence,” McCloskey told host Tucker Carlson. “People are just sick of it. They don’t want any more poseurs and egotists and career politicians going to DC. All we hear is talk, and nothing ever changes.”
The McCloskeys were indicted last year in October of for the unlawful use of a weapon and evidence tampering in connection with the incident.
In December, a judge pulled St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner and her office off the case after Gardner mentioned it in a political fundraising email. In February, former federal prosecutor Richard Callahan was appointed as a special prosecutor in the case.
Missouri Republican Governor Mike Parson has already pledged to pardon the McCloskeys if they are convicted of any criminal offenses, according to the New York Post.
It needs to be noted that when he says, “fight for our values,” he better mean it or he’ll still be part of the problem that he’s trying to defeat.
Twitter definitely is not happy with this announcement nor is the former US senator Claire McCaskill I Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas.
This is going to be an ugly senate race very very quickly, maybe this will be the time for a libertarian to actually win Missouri, you never know.
I could see this getting more ugly than the actual Claire McCaskill versus Jim Talent senatorial race for Missouri and when that took place you had Rush Limbaugh degrading and disrespecting Michael J. Fox who has Parkinson’s disease imitating Fox’s movements because he was a proponent of stem cell research.
