After seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has had his asylum seeker status withdrawn for “violating international conventions.” London’s Met Police confirmed Assange was arrested shortly after.
Ecuador had stated earlier last week that it would withdraw its asylum for the WikiLeaks founder because he exposed corruption in the Ecuadorian government where they deem it as a violation of foreign conventions. He was arrested inside the Ecuadorian embassy by British police.
Julian Assange will be taken to Westminster Magistrates court this afternoon. He has been arrested under a US extradition warrant for conspiracy with Chelsea Manning for publishing classified information revealing war crimes in 2010. Those “crimes” read as Assange downloading “approximately 90,000 Afghanistan war-related significant activity reports, 400,000 Iraq war-related significant activity reports, 800 Guantanamo Bay detainee assessment briefs, and 250,000 U.S. Department of State cables” according to the charges.
Assange is also getting heat because he encouraged Manning to continue to find things to send him, even going as far as to say “curious eyes never run dry in my experience.” According to the Justice Department, Assange faces up to 5 years in prison on hacking charges alone.
If you’re watching this unfold in front of you right now on live television like me then you know the news outlets are pieces of shit. American journalists have hated WikiLeaks because they’ve published news of far greater importance that’s had an impact than most of the news they’ll even publish in their lifetimes. These people are hypocrites and so are the ones watching it who don’t see a problem with this. I say this because we know the left-leaning media hates Trump, but a strange turn of events has happened. The news outlets are cheering the Trump administration for arresting Assange because they only care to protect freedom of the press when it advances their partisan bull shit. This is a clear example of the CIA and its own working in media organizations.
Think about it, how can this happen? Julian Assange is not American and Wikileaks is a foreign-based news organization. The United States is clearly overstepping its boundaries. But they’re making it known they can get you no matter what and don’t you dare release information out there we don’t like or beware of what coming. It’s a very dark place we are in the world when the truth is not welcomed. More to come as this story develops.
