A Swedish court has ruled that American rapper A$AP Rocky and two other U.S. suspects can be freed from detention until Aug. 14, when the verdict on their June 30 assault case will be announced.

Despite the U.S. offering assurances that Rocky would not leave Sweden if released, the judge ruled that the rapper could leave the country in the interim. Rocky landed back in the United States this morning.

Rapper whose real name is Rakim Mayers wrote a thank you post on Instagram to all his supporters.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends, and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks,” wrote Mayers. I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you. This has been a very difficult and humbling experience.”

Prosecutors asked that Mayers get a six-month sentence during closing arguments Friday. Mayers told the court he thought community service would be a proper punishment for him.

The rapper pleaded not guilty at the start of the trial Tuesday, saying he acted in self-defense when Jafari and another man would not leave them alone. He had been behind bars since he was arrested on July 3. Prosecutors asked that Mayers get a six-month sentence during closing arguments Friday. The outcome of Rocky and the crew’s trial will be decided on August 14.
