Kamala Harris just proposed the most aggressive executive orders on guns/gun control in history. If Congress fails to pass a gun safety bill within her first 100 days as president, she’ll turn the second amendment on its head. Here’s what she’s proposing:
- Kamala wants to mandate near-universal background checks by requiring anyone who sells 5 or more guns per year to run checks on all gun sales. As of today 1 of 5 gun purchases occur without a background check. But, it’s already federal law that only requires gun “dealers” to perform checks.
- She also wants to revoke the licenses of gun manufacturers and dealers that break the law and take the most egregious offenders to court, regardless of whether they’re protected by the Protection of Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). If Congress fails to repeal the PLCAA within her first 100 days, Kamala will then take action proposing if there are any willful & serious violations of the law she will revoke the license of a gun dealer or manufacturer. The most egregious actors will face criminal liability.
- Next, she promises to reverse President Trump’s change to the definition of “fugitive from justice,” which he narrowed for purposes of determining who is prohibited from buying a gun. Her argument is that it allowed the gun sales to be blocked to “fugitives from justice” which dropped 65% equating to 1,000s of guns to those with arrest warrants.
- Ultimately her goal is to close the “boyfriend loophole” because it would prevent dating partners who are convicted of domestic violence from purchasing guns. While federal law prohibits abusers convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors from purchasing guns, regulations applying this prohibition have gaping loopholes.
More guns save lives, then the amount that’s taken by guns. There are millions of cases every year that are in self-defense according to a study that was ordered by President Obama.
The study was performed by the CDC and found, “about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008,” the estimated number of defensive uses of guns ranges “from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year,” that’s argument falls on its head by a massive degree and 500,000 to 3 million is a huge difference in saving lives opposed to the actual crimes that happened. I’m not condoning the actions of the 300,000 but self-defense itself is the real deterrent to gun crimes and it’s less likely that the person defending themselves are less likely to even be injured.
Constitution: of United States of America
Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
What are your thoughts on Kamala Harris propositions for gun control? What criminal obeys the law? What is it about “shall not be infringed” that is so difficult to understand? No Means No!!!
