Here we are. In a dark room. Staring into the darkness of a bookshelf filled with HORROR MOVIES. You quiver to pick the best one to send chills down your spine. Give you goosebumps. Make you have nightmares. Well, here are my top 13 favorite horror movies.
13.) DEAD SILENCE
This movie was so fantastically written. The plot with a memorable twist at the end will always fuck me up. I hate dolls, they scare the shit out of me. The glossy eyes that never blink. Cold to the touch. Ehhh. Gross.
12.) STAY ALIVE
This one goes out to all my gamer friends!
I never would have imagined that a scary video game being played in the move would be the whole plot of the movie ?. If that makes sense. I am a gamer. I don’t do horror games though. It makes my anxiety get so high that It will not end well. This movie will keep your vibes and reasons to scream “NOOOOOOOO” on your TV. Sophia Bush was so fantastic in the film. I wished she could have “STAYED ALIVE” in the movie. Haha. Too much? Oh well. ????♀️
11.) THE THING
The classic and remake were fantastic. The classic, Kurt Russell was so good in this film and for the remake, Mary Elizabeth Winstead was phenomenal! Her acting was so superb, (just as any of her films), I could feel her power and need to kill these “aliens”. But I mean, I don’t blame her ??♀️. If you haven’t seen either one of them, WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS?! GO WATCH THE DAMN MOVIES.
10.) THE SKELETON KEY
Kate Hudson. One of the best movies she has done is the Skeleton Key for me. She is a great actress, as well as her mother (Goldie Hawn), but in this film. Wow. When it comes to Voodoo, Oujia, tarot cards and shit like that, I DO NOT want it near me. It’s more of like fear of the power of the unknown. It creeps me out with all that black magic and people wanting to do Ouija boards and Palm reading. Nahhhhh. I won’t do it. The plot keeps you puzzled. But when that ending hits, you will be so mad.
9.) JACOBS LADDER
This movie has taught me to never get high off your own stash ?
Tim Robbins mind fucked the shit out of me in this twisted film. Trust me. When you watch it, you will understand. Demon fucking his girlfriend at a party, twisted corpses, needles, and everything unsanitary. ??
8.) INSIDIOUS
James Wan is one badass dude. Most of all his movies are the ones that fuck with you.
Seeing the “Devil” in this movie, made me have sleep paralysis so bad for a week. You never want to see or even imagine what the real deal looks like. Some things, you just can’t unsee. This movie makes me wanna go through all my childhood photos to see if I see “something” lurking in my pictures.
7.) ORPHAN
WHEN SHE TOOK OF THOSE 3 LAYERS OF TEETH, I WAS DONE!

Vera Farmiga, born to be an actress for horror movies.
Orphan is so well directed and written. Esther here thought she found the perfect family, the perfect “Daddy,” as so she thought. Until Vera kicked her ass. ?
6.) WHEN A STRANGER CALLS
This is the exact reason, I stopped babysitting. Period.
5.) THE COLLECTION
The Collector was okayyyy. But The Collection? Wow. Even more traps, blood, gore, and a killer club murder spree. This one has a special place in my heart.
4.) THE POSSESSION
It all started with a box from a garage sale. What comes in the box would be more than what anyone can handle. I liked how different it was, the most insane obsession that makes you uncomfortable. Especially since its a little kid. This takes “MINE” to a whole other level.
3.) DRAG ME TO HELL
A saying I will never want to say. ?
I guess at your next job interview always ask if there is a chance of coming across eternal damnation. ?
2.) SHUTTER
The original movie is from Thailand. I watched that one too. And it’s way scarier. But to be Americanized, it was actually really good. So good that my mom liked it. A guy breaks a woman’s heart, she loved him and followed him around a lot, his friends raped her as he took pictures, she kills herself, and she haunts them. Picks them one by one.

1.) LIGHTS OUT
I remember watching the YouTube video wayyyyy before this was a movie. I was scared shitless. I have a fear of the dark. I can’t stand it. I grew up on nightmares and sleep paralysis that it isn’t funny. I used to see a woman kind of like the kid. But it triggers my fear because I’m scared of the dark. I have other reasons as well, but my imagination is so big and wild, its scary.
This movie was so good. That I only needed to watch it once and be like “OKAY. THAT’S IT FOR ME” and I bought it the first day it came out on DVD. ?
