Brett Favre is making headlines again with this comments regarding Derek Chauvin, the police officer who killed George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Chauvin was convicted yesterday, he was found guilty on all 3 charges including second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The conviction stems from a horrific incident last year in May when Chauvin arrested George Floyd and kneeled on Floyd’s neck and head for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. During the entirety of the situation Floyd was heard on camera clearly gasping for oxygen with Chauvin still on top of him saying, “I can’t breathe.”

Favre, The NFL Hall of Fame player did condemn Derek Chauvins actions despite what seems to be a majority of media outlets especially liberal ones aiming to paint Brett Favre in a certain light with headlines like, Brett Favre Says It’s ‘Hard to Believe’ Derek Chauvin Killed George Floyd ‘Intentionally’ from Complex, this kind of journalism or however one may describe it seems to intentionally mislead someone and allows for a person to automatically make up their mind without specific context to somebody’s words.

Here’s what Brett Favre actually said in full context regarding the death of George Floyd and the officer who killed him, Derrick Chauvin, on his Bolling with Favre” podcast alongside TV personality Eric Bolling.

“I find it hard to believe, and I’m not defending Derek Chauvin in any way, I find it hard to believe, first of all, that he intentionally meant to kill George Floyd,” Favre said. “That being said, his actions were uncalled for. I don’t care what color the person is on the street. I don’t know what led to that video that we saw where his knee is on his neck, but the man had thrown in the towel.”

My Take on Brett Favre Backlash

This type of click baiting/scroll presumptiveness is harmful to the person the article is quoting and to the person who is actually reading it who may not even click the article to even read it. Let’s be honest, most of you, including myself, have glanced at a headline and automatically assumed we already know the gist of what is going to be said, so we don’t click it and keep scrolling.

Moreover, media outlets have always counted on us to do that, and that’s being misinformed or being mislead, they love that. Again, this can be harmful especially when you truly don’t know what’s actually going on to assume something that’s so wrong that we’ll actually defend our opinion with the utmost conviction no matter what it takes sometimes, but in certain situations when that happens we look like complete fools. We have got to be better as a society and do our due diligence that we so often fail to do, but as we’ve seen the past few years, what we’re told and what we’re fed isn’t always the truth.

Favre did indeed receive some heat to put it lightly for his comments but he stood his ground and said, “I just gave my opinion. I’m certainly not a racist, despite what people think. I’m for unity. I just feel like there’s a better way to unify our country. That being said, there’s a lot of things that need to stop.”

I think people are just trying to make something out of this, I don’t think Brett Favre is a bad guy, I don’t think he’s a racist either, I think he’s a good man who just has a different approach In his way of speaking which I don’t think does any harm. I lied, it doesn’t do harm unless it’s misconstrued by the actual media outlets who aim paint him a certain picture for views and outrage it seems and they should be ashamed of themselves. The hate this man is getting because of misleading headlines is insane and this definitely isn’t egregious or to the levels of disbelief that Drew Brees said regarding kneeling during the national anthem or his insensitivity to why it was even happening.

Favre is right, this was uncalled for on the part of Derek Chauvin committing a crime like this, it could have been prevented, but the right results were given down to Chauvin yesterday I truly believe that, agree with me or not that’s your choice.
