Trump told reporters on Air Force 1 that he is considering giving disgraced and imprisoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich a pardon and commutation for his federal corruption conviction. Blagojevich was once an Apprentice guest.

He was impeached and imprisoned for soliciting bribes to fill Obama’s empty Senate seat and at the same time trying to extort a children hospital as well.

His conviction came after winning office on a pledge to bring an end to corruption in Illinois following his predecessor, Republican Gov. George Ryan, who was convicted of campaign finance corruption.

“I thought he was treated unbelievably unfairly; he was given close to 18 years in prison,” Trump, a Republican, said. “And a lot of people thought it was unfair, like a lot of other things — and it was the same gang, the Comey gang and all these sleazebags that did it.”

Patti Blagojevich, Rod’s wife, started appearing on Fox News last April to appeal to Trump to pardon Blagojevich. She was interviewed at least 6 times during 2018. In April, Tucker prompted Patti to speak directly to Trump via Fox interview. Others included similar appeals.

Is this a good idea?
