Rush Limbaugh has passed away at age 70. Battled Stage 4 lung cancer for more than a year. The most successful political talk show host in radio history.

Very sad day for conservatism today. A giant has left us and he has gained heaven and his reward. May God bless his family and may God help this country.

Limbaugh was surprised and honored in January 2020 being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at the State of the Union address days later. First lady Melania Trump then presented America’s highest civilian honor to Limbaugh in an emotional moment on the heels of his devastating cancer diagnosis.

Back in October, Limbaugh provided this somber update on his show: “You know, I wake up every day and thank God that I did. I go to bed every night praying I’m gonna wake up. I don’t know how many of you do that, those of you who are not sick, those of you who are not facing something like I and countless other millions are.”

“He is the greatest fighter and winner you will ever meet,” Trump said at the time. “Rush Limbaugh, thank you for your decades of tireless devotion to our country … in recognition of all you have done for our nation, I am proud to announce tonight that you will be receiving our country’s highest civilian honor: the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”

The History of Rush Limbaugh

The Missouri native from Cape Girardeau got his start in small-town radio stations in the 1970s under the name “Bachelor Jeff” Christie. He began using his own name on air while hosting in Kansas City in the early ’80s, and then replaced firebrand Morton Downey Jr. at Sacramento’s KFBK in 1984.

He was one of the most polarizing figures in radio and in politics overall especially with views that got slammed over and over especially when it pertained to race, LGBTQ+ issues, feminism, sexual consent and climate change

“The Rush Limbaugh Show” first aired in 1988 leaving an everlasting effect on the genre that may never ever be duplicated. Limbaugh was married 4 times, the first 3 ending in divorce. He is survived by his current wife, Kathryn Rogers, who he wed in 2010.

Love him or hate him, he definitely change the game.
