A reporter asked President Trump: “Should Colin Kaepernick get an opportunity to play in the NFL?”
President Trump’s response: “Only if he’s good enough… if he’s good enough, they’d sign him in a heartbeat.”
The President continued “I know the owners. I know Patriots owner Bob Kraft. I know so many of the owners. If he’s good enough, they’d sign him. So if he’s good enough, I know these people. They would sign him in a heartbeat. They will do anything they can to win games.”
Kaepernick famously kneeled during the national anthem in the 2016 season to draw attention to social and racial injustice issues. He claimed the league blackballed him after that.
If you remember Kaepernick and safety Eric Reid who is with the Panthers subsequently filed a collusion grievance against the NFL. The case was settled in February and includes a confidentiality agreement regarding the terms of the settlement.
Where do you think could be a good fit for Kaepernick? Philly if Wentz can’t stay healthy? Maybe Denver? Should get interesting what happens now as the NFL season is on the horizon.
