Televangelist Pat Robertson has joined the chorus of his fellow member of the republican criticizing President Donald Trump’s decision to pull U.S. forces out of Northern Syria and endangering America’s Kurdish allies.
The president’s decision will allow for a Turkish military operation in the war-torn region. Trump argued in a statement that Turkey will assume responsibility for all ISIS fighters captured in the region, many of whom were detained by Kurdish forces allied with the United States. The Turkish government views these Kurdish militias as terrorists even though the U.S. supporting them in the fight against ISIS.
The President had a number of tweets he fired back at his critics with earlier.
European allies “refused” to take back their foreign fighters who traveled to #Syria to fight with ISIS. Says Turkey now responsible for all ISIS fighters captured in last two years. Most are being held now by Syrian Kurds.
Robertson said he was “appalled” by the White House’s announcement especially because he believes Turkeys President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a “thug” and a “dictator.”
Will Trump lose evangelical voters because of this? What are your thoughts?
