House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was against efforts to launch impeach proceedings against President Donald Trump, will announce a formal inquiry on today, according to two Democratic sources close to her.

Pelosi’s change of heart comes as dozens of House Democrats with more than two-thirds (170 Democrats) of the caucus in support of an impeachment inquiry in the wake of reports that Trump may have withheld aid to Ukraine to pressure officials there to investigate the son of a political rival, Joe Biden. There are 235 members of the caucus which reaches two-thirds needed by them.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham responded to the reports by saying that “the Democrats continue to weaponize politics when they should be working on behalf of their constituents, which is nothing new.”

“President Trump is working hard on behalf of our country here in NYC while they continue to scream the word impeachment. Nothing new here,” she said in a statement.

The controversy over Ukraine began with reports that a whistleblower in the intelligence community called attention to conversations between Trump and a foreign leader. Reports surfaced over the weekend that Trump asked Volodymyr Zelensky to look into allegations about the Biden family. They alleged Trump withheld $400 million in aid hostage because he insisted on the investigation.

President Trump however just authorized the release of the transcript of a phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

The war has begun and it’s going to get ugly. They’ve been after this president since day one and have not been able to take a loss, yet they use Biden’s lawlessness to justify this, hilarious. This is an admission by the Democrats of imminent defeat in the 2020 election. Most Americans do not share their radical leftist beliefs. A very sad group of people.

The real question are they trying to protect Biden and his son?
