President Trump appears to back away from his threat to close the U.S. border with Mexico. Says he’ll give Mexico a one-year warning to halt trafficking. After that, he says he may impose tariffs on auto imports or close the border.
So, it’s a one-year threat with the president holding an option for a second year!?!? And after that, he’s a free agent? I am not happy Mr. President. This completely eradicates Trump’s argument against the national emergency that we supposedly had. All the progress made for many Americans who truly believe there is a national emergency at the border now makes their beliefs seem irrelevant.
Last week, Trump said there was a “very good likelihood” he would close the border this week if Mexico didn’t crack down on migrants. The president’s walk back of his border closure threat comes after intense pushback from the US Chamber of Commerce and other business groups. #avocados
What was the point of all the rhetoric? I’m so pissed this truly hurts Trump’s candidacy for 2020.
