More than 150 pounds of black market bologna seized in Texas, border agents say. But why would Mexican bologna be illegal?
Mexican bologna is prohibited because it is made from pork and has the potential for introducing foreign animal diseases to the U.S. pork industry.
The illegal importation could bring in foreign animal diseases with it that other living animals’ aren’t used to. Besides animals, it could potentially make us very sick with something our bodies have never experienced before, so our bodies would have no way of defending itself against it.
This meat is not regulated or tested. There’s also no way of knowing how sanitary the conditions were at the place where the meat was processed. There could be any number of bacteria and diseases in the meat.
However, we have to be honest this type of action is to protect American agriculture and the big money behind it.
