This debate is just that, a debate. Which quarterbacks will enter the 2019 season with the best upside? Which will end the season as the NFL’s League MVP? We have it here! 5. Baker Mayfield

With an array of new additional talent heading into the 2019 season headlined by an offensive juggernaut of a receiver in Odell Beckham Jr., Baker Mayfield looks to do some impressive and exciting things. Two things, its important to note Mayfield has a will to win and take no shit mentality that will definitely generate some scoring and wins where he will shine, they are mutually exclusive. The second part of it is and most importantly Mayfield is starting game 1 of the season as the starting star quarterback with no question he is the guy in Cleveland. If you think about it perhaps if Mayfield started last season they would’ve garnered an extra win or two that would have put them in playoffs and who knows what would be happened.

QB Stats: 36 Td’s, 16 Interceptions, 4,738 Yards.

4. Deshaun Watson

The most underrated quarterback on this entire list. With the talent, they have around him look for better things to come especially since he’s still on his rookie contract. Being on his rookie contract allows Brian Gaine, the GM, to allocate talent that they can pay and be legit additions to help build the team. I’m looking forward to them building the offensive line to help further protect Watson and build their secondary. The better secondary they have the more time Watson and the offense have to make plays and they do that even with how they performed last year winning the AFC South last year. The simple fact that he’s getting paid what he is makes a tremendous difference for that team.

Team Record: 11-5

Team Journey: Win Division, Lose in Divisional Playoff.

QB Stats: 31 TD’s, 11 Interceptions, 4,476 Yards.

3. Russell Wilson

Well considering there are talks swirling around the football world that the franchise quarterback might be going to the New York Giants, there is no doubt the largest threat to any team may just be Russell Wilson. If they traded him it would be cataclysmic, to say the least to the well being of the Seattle Seahawks. On any team, he can win and has proven it time and time again with less. Considering he put himself in the MVP race late last year and how deadly accurate he was you can expect the same heading into this upcoming season. Out of any quarterback last year in a single season game Wilson had the best single game of any of them. Pro Football Focus gave Wilson a 98.0 overall grade for that game, the highest mark by a quarterback all season. He earned a perfect 158.3 passer rating, and threw for 14.6 yards per attempt.

QB Stats: 39 TD’s, 9 Interceptions, 3,949 Yards.

2. A. Phillip Rivers/ B. Drew Brees

Listen before you start, both these men had nearly the exact same season last year and I don’t expect anything different for 2019. Phillip Rivers is getting older and as he welcomed his ninth child yesterday so I believe it gives him higher incentive to play better along with getting a new frontline that will unequivocally help the chargers and Rivers. Even with that front line from last year, Rivers completed 68.3 percent of his passes, that’s with him getting sacked 32 times last year. All he needs is a healthy team, a better accurate and clutch kicker and some front line help and they’ll go a long way.

Team Record: 13-3

Team Journey: Wild Card, Win Divisional Playoff, Lose in AFC Championship.

QB Stats: 35 TD’s, 15 Interceptions, 4,712 Yards

This will be the swan song for Drew Brees and expect him to show out to the fullest. The 40-year-old just got a TE in Jared Cook for another piece of his already stacked arsenal. Regardless of the running game and his misfortunes from last years debacle in the playoffs where they got screwed by the Rams and the referees, his vengeance will be felt across the league. Regardless of Jonathan Vilma’s recent comments about Brees lasting and playing another three years is absurd, I would love it, but don’t see it happening. He still doesn’t have that MVP and I see him doing everything he can to win a MVP and another RING.

Team Record: 14-2

Team Journey: Win Division, Win Divisional Playoff, Lose in NFC Championship.

QB Stats: 44 TD’S, 10 Intercpetions, 4,909 Yards.

1. Patrick Mahomes

The reigning and defending MVP shows no signs of slowing down this coming season. There have been new additions welcomed on the defensive side of the ball in Kansas City in pickups in Tyrann Matthieu among others, and with a new defensive coordinator hopefully willing to give Mahomes more time to do what he does best and electrify I seen the sky as the limit. Moreover, as long as the defensive coordinator can do his job properly and come up with a better defense then we had things will just improve. Patrick Mahomes had the 2nd greatest season in NFL history and he’s not even at his best, too bad for the other 31 teams.

Expect him to have the greatest season ever, this year. Take a look at this the NFL TD Pass Leaders (2017-2018) in just two seasons. Mahomes would’ve had 100+ if he had played two full seasons.
