Iranian state TV reports that Iran will no longer abide by any of the limits agreed in the 2015 nuclear deal. The latest development follows the airstrike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad. Weapons-grade uranium is 90% enriched or more.
The Obama administration negotiated what they called a “landmark nuclear deal” in 2015 but was abandoned in 2018 after President Trump withdrew the US from the agreement. The Trump administration pulled out of the deal 18 months ago, until now, Iran and the EU had been trying to keep the agreement together while dangling a threat of enrichment but wanting support for their economy because of Trump’s sanctions in the meantime. This past summer the Iranian government planned to enrich its uranium.
Does this really matter? It’s more of an admission opposed to a change of mind so let’s get it straight. This isn’t a change of mind it’s a confirmation that the Trump administration was correct.
