ICE raids targeting Migrant Families slated to start Sunday in Major U.S. Cities
June 22, 2019
ICE agents will target immigrants in Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, and San Francisco for deportation as early as Sunday, sources told the Miami Herald.
LAPD says that department is aware of ICE raids this Sunday that will target immigrants in L.A. “is NOT participating or assisting in any of these enforcement actions.”
President Trump and his administration officials confirmed that ICE will specifically target for deportation as many as 1 million people “who have been issued final deportation orders by federal judges yet remain at large in the country.”
Those consisting minors who came into the U.S. without their parents and have since turned 18, people who were ordered removed in absentia, and people who missed a court hearing and did not respond to letters mailed to their homes by the Department of Justice first.
If you are not a U.S. citizen, you have the right to speak to your home country’s embassy or consulate. Immigration or police must allow you to speak with them. If at home, you do not have to open your door unless the officers show you a warrant signed by a judge, justice of the peace or magistrate. Unless a judge, justice of the peace or magistrate signed the warrant, an officer cannot enter your home.
