Last night President Trump almost delivered the longest S.O.T.U. broadcast ever, racking up an hour and 22 minutes with approximately 97 applause breaks. President Clinton’s broadcast lasted an hour and 28 minutes, while President Nixon gave the shortest S.O.T.U. at 29 minutes.
This recap entails my ten things we learned from President Trumps State of the Union last night:
10. No mention of the Shutdown
I’m not sure if he should’ve depending on whose side you’re on and wanting to place the blames. Given the fact that many of the government employees that were off work live paycheck to paycheck. Losing a check possibly means not being able to pay your mortgage and the bank foreclosing for most people. Who deserves the blame, Trump or the Democrats?
9. We Respect our Heroes and Progress in Being Made
Throughout the night President Trump pointed out that many veterans of World War II, an agent of ICE and survivors of wars laid the groundwork for all of us to do what we can on a daily basis. He emphasized that through the hell they faced we can overcome the evils of today no matter the bull shit. The moment when he gave the example of the family saying “that’s the Americans” on the train tracks brought legit tears to my eyes.
President Trump recognizes Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin as the 50th anniversary is this year of the moon landing.
Another outstanding moment was when the President paid tribute to Alice Johnson, criminal justice reform and the First Step Act. I even thought the president was getting emotional during this moment.
Matthew Charles was the first prisoner released as a result of Trump’s criminal justice reform, the First Step Act. Incredible story.
Tree of Life hero officer Timothy Matson who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and saved countless lives in that horrid anti-Semitic attack at the Synagogue in Pittsburgh was in attendance for the president address and has had multiple surgeries and it was evident. God bless.
8. The Women in White
President Trump applauded the progress this country has made in employing more women than ever before and more women elected to Congress than any time before. Give the President credit he didn’t have to acknowledge according to some but I applaud him knowing a large number of them were elected on an anti-Trump basis, and even to impeach him. Many of them dressed in all white, I assume democrat, erupted in roars during that moment of the S.O.T.U.
7. It was a Happy Birthday
People broke into song after President Trump during his S.O.T.U speech recognizing Judah Samet, who arrived at the Tree of Life synagogue just as the gunfire broke out last fall, and noted that Samet was celebrating his 81st birthday. Sammet was also a Holocaust survivor.
6. Sorry Bernie and Cortez
“America was founded on liberty and independence – not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.”
The look on Bernie Sanders face told the story. #Classic
5. Pelosi is Impatient ?
I have never seen someone purch their lips, catch their false teeth so much and do everything else but pay attention since I was accused of having ADHD. She jacked with so many papers it looked like she was deciding to order a deep dish or thin crust?
She gave so many outlandish faces and cutoff signals you would’ve thought she worked at the Apollo.
4. No More Wars For Us?
The war in Afghanistan may be over. On Afghanistan: “We know that after two decades of war, it is time to try for peace. It’s time.” Bring our brave men and women home, we should never have been there in the first place, Bush and Obama should go to prison for war crimes along with Cheyney and Rumsfeld.
3. A Wall Will Be Built
“Simply put, walls work and walls save lives. So let’s work together, compromise, and reach a deal that will truly make America safe…The proper wall was never built. I will get it built.”
2. Roe V. Wade may be on its Deathbed✊
“I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb…Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children – born and unborn – are made in the holy image of God.”
Now to be fair the argument against this is how is fair to do the ripping from the mothers at the border?
1. America is Great and Will Reign Supreme!
“We do the incredible. We defy the impossible. We conquer the unknown. This is the time to re-ignite the American imagination… This is the time to rekindle the bonds of love and loyalty and memory that link us together as citizens, as neighbors, as patriots…we must always keep faith in America’s destiny, that one Nation, under God, must be the hope and the promise and the light and the glory among all the nations of the world!”
