October Rants Pt. 3?

It’s another Monday here in my favorite month of the year, still pretty chilly but not the fall I wanted. Hey, it’s October? Let’s see what we missed this past weekend & what the latest headlines were…

Good Morning Everyone! Please Subscribe Below⬇

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs move to 6-1 on the season and 3-0 at Arrowhead Stadium with their 45-10 win over the Bengals on Sunday night. This was arguably the best game for the Chiefs on offense, defense and special teams. The crazy thing is that this isn’t even their ceiling on either side of the ball. Patrick Mahomes continues to break down walls and set records. The Chiefs have to keep up this pace because Phillip Rivers and the Chargers are right on our ass with a damn respectable 5-2 record. We still need to fire Bob Sutton.

Washington Redskins

This is the first time since 2000 that the Redskins have headed into Week 8 in first place in the NFC East after beating the Dallas Cowboys 20-17. The Cowboys had second-and-1 at the Redskins 37 with 28 seconds and a time-out remaining. They immediately set up FG by running Elliott to position themselves, then let the clock run to 3 seconds and called timeout. Really wasn’t sure what the hell that was but okay. Alex Smith hasn’t done what he did last year in KC in Washington but with Adrian Peterson, they make a great combo.

FYI My SuperBowl picks…Chiefs Vs. Redskins, the old man (Smith) taking on the NFL’s new prince (Mahomes) and his replacement. It’s going to be epic!!

The World Series

When the Dodgers take on the Redsox Tuesday night, it will mark the third time in World Series history that two teams with at least 6 titles play head-to-head. I’m really not interested but hey whatever, Kershaw is overrated and I hate the Red Sox. FYI…
Dodgers 2018 payroll: $199M
Red Sox 2018 payroll: $228M
Total: $427,000,000
Nice competitive environment?

Condoms Already Lubed Up?

The future is truly here. Boston University scientists have designed condoms that lubricate themselves to help fight STD’s I think that’s ducking genius. It’s about to slippery as hell?.
But in all seriousness, the U.S. saw a record number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases in 2017, 2.3 million. This marked the fourth straight year of sharp increases in gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia, according to preliminary data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Voting in Midterm Elections?

If you’re thinking about voting this November for the midterm elections, you aren’t the only one. Election boards have predicted that 45-50% of eligible voters will cast a ballot. That would be a level not seen since 1970 when 47% of voters turned out or 1966 when a record 49% turned out in a midterm.
Midterm election turnout since 1940:

• Highest: 48.7% in 1966

• Lowest: 36.7% in 2014

Fast Food

Accepting to the New York Times author Nicholas Bakalar 37% of all American adults will eat fast food at some point today. 37%!Among those who eat fast food, 44 percent do so at lunch and 42 percent at dinner. Men are more likely to grab fast food at lunch; women are more likely to snack on it.
The most enthusiastic consumers are 20 to 39 years old: 45 percent of them eat fast food on any given day. That figure declines sharply with age, to 38 percent among people 40 to 59, and to 24 percent among those over age 60.

Trump Manufacturing

U.S. manufacturers increased their capacity for the 16th straight month in September, fresh evidence that a strengthening economy is helping to propel a U.S. industrial rebound.

With an estimated $77.5M, the new Halloween Movie had the best domestic debut by far not only of any film in the Halloween franchise but of ANY slasher horror movie, period.
The original Halloween from John Carpenter made $47 million in domestic box office over the course of its theatrical release. Produced on a budget of $300,000, it is widely regarded as one of the most successful independent films of all-time.
Adjusting for ticket price inflation, Halloween Movie still comfortably holds the box office record for the best domestic debut of any slasher movie.

But it will still need to perform better than most slasher movies to surpass the adjusted gross of the 1978 original Halloween.
